In my capacity as Director of the Arc of Utah, I see many people who would benefit directly from a program such as Bridges of Caring. Below I have given a brief outline of some of the individuals in need at this time (subject to change).
A 35 year old woman is in need of having her motorized wheelchair repaired. Estimated financial need $500.
A 5 year old boy, with developmental disabilities, is in need of speech therapy. Estimated financial need $1,000.
A 69 year old man is in need of adaptive equipment to maintain his farm routine. Estimated financial need $12,000.
A 33 year old mother with learning disabilities is in need of supported housing. Estimated financial need $15,000.
A 43 year old man with cerebral palsy is in need of a motorized scooter for his mobility needs. Estimated financial need $5,000.
A 53 year old male with quadriplegia is in need of an accessible van to transport himself. Estimated financial need $40,000.
A 67 year old man with a back injury is in need of an adaptive hay hauling device to use in maintaining his farm. Estimated financial need $20,000.
A 33 year old homeless man with mental illness is in need of assistance in and support in seeking and maintaining affordable housing. Estimated financial need $10,000.
An 8 year old girl and her mother are in need of support to acquire necessary skills for the girl to participate in school. Estimated financial need $2,000.
A 63 year old blind woman has need for making her home and yard accessible due to her disability. Estimated financial need $5,000.
These 10 cases represent a small portion of the many individuals with disabilities that are truly in need at this time (subject to change). Their total estimated financial need is $110,500.
Thank you for your consideration in what may be the means of assisting and providing the support, adaptive equipment and needed disability services in the lives of many individuals in Southern Utah.
Respectfully,
Terry Hawks
